Just Enough To Be Dangerous
The infamous “Walker stomach” has probably done more to deteriorate my health and quality of life than any cold, flu, ganglion cyst , or tonsil infection. It’s your general heart burn, stomach pain and discomfort–the whole ball of wax. It’s been acting up for the past couple weeks, as this midline epigastric gnawing (in the middle of the abdomen, right under your rib cage), and I keep imagining myself developing an acute abdomen and having to rush to the ER because I’ve perforated (the lining of part of my GI tube has ripped open). It’s been getting progressively more frequent, so I guess I’ll head to the health service on Monday.
Last night, of course, just as I was getting ready to go out, I kind of had this big freakout session, had to call the health service answering service, was preparing to cancel my plans and spend the evening at the ER. But who woulda known that Pepto Bismol turns your stools black, too? We clearly haven’t covered that in my 12 weeks worth of med school.
Sometimes I am such a dumbass.
