Congratulations, maggots, you’ve just won FDA approval . It seems that maggots may work therapeutically to help wounds heal that otherwise won’t. Just like many of the first antibiotics were from molds that had evolved the ability in order to compete with bacteria, the maggots produce their own antibiotics to kill bacteria who are competing with them for space in a wound.
